15 minute beginner DIY – custom shoe labels for kids

Is it just me, or do the labels you put on your kids stuff fall off and disappear? Well, let’s make a more permanent and personal option!

I bought some embroidery floss because I want to learn how to make friendship bracelets (I’m channeling my 8th grade self) and I had a 40% off coupon.  I decided to make DIY shoe labels for my girls.  Check it out:

Ok, so it’s not perfect, but handmade is all the rage these days, right? Here’s how I did it:

1. use a pencil to draw the names on the shoes

2. Thread a needle with floss and just outline the letters with the floss. (the back will be a hot mess but we will fix that)

3. Use fabric fusion (or super glue or E6000, really anything should work) and just put it all over the back to cement the project in place. (see what I’m pointing at in the picture below?)

4. allow time to dry and you are done!

I did this about 2 months ago, and so far all is still secure and in place! Kids are rough and so far both are still in perfect shape!

Seriously, if you are new to DIYing things, this is one you can do. This project took me my entire alone time while Dad was bathing the girls = 15 minutes. So, there ya go!

Making the most out of life,
