We Shall Snuggle

I’m not super affectionate and I am especially not a “snuggle” person. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a cold ice queen or anything, I just don’t love to sit around and cuddle. But after my husband snapped a picture of my daughter and I snuggling one cold winter day, I may be changing my ways…

Trust me, the whole “no snuggle” thing has gotten me into trouble with my husband. He happens to love showing affection, holding hands, cuddling, etc. I like it every once in a while, but for the most part I’m a hands-off type of person. I really try. When it comes to my kids I do show them affection and love them, but again, not so cuddly about it all the time. Claire even knows if she lays in my bed with me at night there is a pillow in between us and she can’t touch me with her feet. As Brandon says, “You know mom is all business when she goes to sleep.” It’s true.

We were playing a game one evening in Claire’s room. The whole family was picking numbers out of a can Claire created and then made up what the number meant. I drew the number 11.

Someone said, “This means 11 seconds of snuggling!”

I grabbed Claire and we snuggled tightly for 11 whole seconds. She was wrapped in my embrace and Brandon grabbed his iPhone and snapped a picture.

I looked at the picture and it really showed something I’ve never seen before. The look on my six year old’s little face just melted my heart. She was so happy. Heck, I look pretty happy too. Something so simple that probably means so much to my little sweetheart.

So, snuggle we will. Or, at least I’ll try to be better about it.
